The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the announcement on Wednesday. BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhary said that their decision is “in the interest of cricket and public at large”.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani responded by saying that he was “disappointed” and “surprised” with the decision.
Pakistan has hosted the Asia Cup twice before, in 2004 and 2016. The last time India played in Pakistan was a one-day international series in 2007, which was abandoned after a suicide attack outside the stadium.
India has pulled out of the 2023 Asia Cup in Pakistan. This is because of the tension between India and Pakistan due to the Pulwama attack.
